“One number for life is the way to go. No more guessing what your next number will be, no missed calls, no new local phone company to deal with and you won’t have to notify a soul!
A simple form and signature will speed you on your way to becoming part of the VoIP family. You won’t even break a sweat.”
Let’s take a look at how it all happens.
A Letter of Authorization is required when transferring the customer’s home or cell phone number over to our service. The Letter of Authorization must be signed by the account holder whose name is listed on the existing service.
VoIP will keep the customer informed of the transfer process via email along the way. Once the form is submitted and approved, the customer will receive an email confirmation that the number transfer is in process. If they do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours, they can contact us. Issues with the number transfer will also be communicated to them through email.
The transfer process takes between 14 to 30 business days once we receive the completed Letter of Authorization. An email will be sent from VoIP when the number has been successfully transferred.
In order for VoIP to transfer the number it MUST remain active with the local carrier. Once the customer has signed the Letter of Authorization, they should NOT contact their carrier to disconnect the service. It will take place when the phone number is transitioned to VoIP. The customer will receive a final bill from their previous provider.
Now a customer can always have a local number. With VoIP, a customer can have a local number in nearly every area code and country that we serve — and save themselves and those who call them lots of money!
How do they do it?
* Select a new area code and number.
* Add multiple numbers so that they can have local presence anywhere in our service area – so the customer and his/her callers can enjoy local rates.
* Add Lines; each line with its own number and service plan.
Area Code Availability
VoIP offers Area Codes across the country.
They can choose a number anywhere VoIP has service. Make them aware that if they choose a number that is outside of their local calling area, normal long distance, regional or local toll charges may apply for anyone who calls them depending on their telephone provider and their calling plan.
Can they get their old number back if they change their mind?
They must decide carefully before choosing a new number. Once they give up their number, it will be re-used by another VoIP customer and they won’t be able to get it back. Remember, they always have the option of keeping their old number as a virtual number.
